2026/08/03 USD/JPY Trade Strategy

Today's USD/JPY call: Sell.
After a big drop this morning, the price is currently in a retracement.
From here, I’d like to ride the downtrend once it turns lower again.
Technically, a break above Line A would put buying on the table, but I’d rather not buy.
Review

It was Scenario B.
Price briefly broke above Line A, but it wasn’t a situation for buying.
I went short at ○1, the retracement after the bearish shift on the 5-minute chart (M5).
It didn’t reach the target, but I took profit where the decline stalled. 50pips
The 15-minute chart (M15) had already made a bullish shift, so depending on how you look at it, this price is the pullback low within an uptrend.
The day-trading rule of thumb here is to take profit once, then either wait for a small rise and aim to sell the rally again, or aim for the retracement after a bearish shift on the M15.
